Time for reminiscing.
When I was in high school I had absolutely no clue as to what I wanted to major in. I fluttered around from topic to topic hoping that I would figure it out before I turned 25. I remember my parents sitting down with me and discussing career options. My dad (a laced up conservative State Farm employee) pushed for a career that would provide financial stability and room for growth. My mom (a P.E. and health teacher/hilarious “free spirit”) encouraged me to find a career path that I would truly enjoy for the rest of my days. I was clueless. While at college I started off as a graphic design major and later turned to photography and received my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a minor in Art History. Do you know what you can do with a BFA? I was lost for a time after graduation but on my mother suggestion I signed up to substitute teach. I needed a paycheck. It was not until I started subbing that I realized that I loved being in a classroom. I get excited to see students succeed and flourish. I am happy with my career path even though it took me a long time to realize what I should do. Now that I’m in my thirties (no comments) and I would say there are only a few other options that I would have embraced for my career path. I could see myself becoming a labor and delivery nurse because I love babies and pregnancy even though it is all disgusting. I also love photography sessions with families and children. But do I have the guts to open my own studio business. Nope. Not happening. My parents still believe I have a wonderful knack for creating personalized cards/brochures/pamphlets and think I should design them for funeral homes. Doesn’t that just sound thrilling? So here is my point. There are so many options out there we can’t cover them all in a year. But I want you to explore the field of art. Blog requirements:
