This course will cover a variety of art practices including fundamental drawing principles, applied through the use of graphite, paint, ink, and various other two-dimensional media. Exploration in the elements and principles of design, composition, and perspective will be covered during the first semester. A comprehensive study in color, color theory, three-dimensional design, and drawing will be covered during the second semester. Art history is covered throughout the year, and the students are required to keep a sketchbook that will be provided to them. |

late. policy.Every student works at his/her own pace, but deadlinesare a reality and we need to have work finished for class critiques. Projects must be completed for formal critiques and exhibits in order to receive full credit. If you are having difficulty keeping up in class you will have to work independently outside of class (before school, after school, study hall, or lunch). If you are sick, an extension will be granted if you or your parent contacts me during your illness to make arrangements to make up the work. Late work will be accepted until a certain date with points deducted for being late.

Elements and Principles of ArtThe Elements and Principles of Art should be present in every drawing, sketch, and artwork you create. You need to be cognizant of how you are placing your focal points and main subjects within your compositions so you are utilizing the space and creating interesting artworks.
